UPDATE NOTES 1.8 Top

Resonance bounce range has been decreased from 4.5 to 4. This is not a huge nerf, but it certainly limits Vox's ability when the enemy team is apart.

Hello guys! I'm PeterKe and I wrote this guide to show people how to use Vox correctly. I want to thank SEMC for making such a great game and awesome character. My IGN is PeterKeDer, I would love any comments and suggestions!

-Changed some typos and errors

Why Vox? Top

Vox is a ranged character with exceptional high damage but low defense. With his Sonic Zoom, he is very mobile and can dash around a lot. Vox can be built both WP and CP( and Hybrid too), depending on the choice of single target or multi-target damage.
The reason I use Vox is because of his high mobility, his high damage, and the coolness of the special effects.

This Vox build is for those who have a lot of experience with Vox. Please find a simpler build for Vox starters.

Hero Abilities Analysis Top

Julia's Song- Vox does extra crystal damage with basic attacks. This damage will bounce to two nearby enemies if target has resonance on it. This skill is what gives Vox such a great multi-target damage when built CP.

Sonic Zoom- Vox dashed in target direction, throwing two attacks to a nearby enemy with resonance, prioritizing heroes. This ability grants Vox extreme mobility and burst damage, while giving you a better( or worse) positioning. This skill is easy to use, but hard to master. A dash with the wrong direction in a teamfight will cause instantly Vox's doom. It's quite a short dash but it can jump over a few walls, so practice that a lot. It is recommended to max this first when going WP.

Pulse- A sonic wave that applies resonance and slow to nearby enemies. Upgrading this ability will increase the bonus damage basic & bouncing attacks against targets with resonance. This skill is extremely useful and grants Vox the high multi-target damage. Since Sonic Zoom doesn't work well without resonance, upgrade this ability at level 1. Try to use this and apply resonance to as many enemies as possible. When going in bushes, use this skill to check for enemies instead of face checking. Max this skill first when going CP.

Wait for it- A thin line that applies resonance to all enemies on it, then Vox shoots a wide shock waves which damages and silences enemies, also causing resonance on heroes to bounce. It does really high damage and have a low CD, while the silence is amazing. Use it at the start of end of the fight are equally effective. Try to line up 3 enemies when activating for maximizing damage and crowd control. For me, this skill will always be maxed due to the reduced CD, so it can be used more than one time in a fight.

Build Variety Top

WP- The OLD Meta

An extremely popular build before 1.7, this build receives such a nerf that it became unusable. However, high skill is still able to make this build viable, but definitely not as strong as going CP. This build does high single target damage and can burst down the enemy carry in no time, however very squishy.

Order: Get Swift Shooter for more DPS or Weapon Blade for better last-hittings at the start of the match. At first teleport home, get 2 Swift Shooter, one Heavy Steel and one Six Sins for an incredible DPS. Sorrowblade is next and upgrade the two Swift Shooter to Blazing Salvo. Then just finish off the build and dominate!

Pros:
Super powerful attacks
Cons:
Low multi-target damage
Low ultimate damage

CP- High Damage

A very balanced CP build that does extremely high single and multi-target damage if the enemies are close to each other. This is probably the build that is used mostly by players now. However, this build can be easily countered by shield and it loses it effects when facing single targets or when enemies are apart. Slightly weaker than WP builds early game.

Order: At start, get Crystal Bit or Swift Shooter depending on personal preference. First time to base and you should be able to get, a Blazing Salvo and a couple of Crystal Bit. Then you will need to get Broken Myth, after that build Alternating Current. Then finish Clockwork and Shatterglass at your own choice of order.

Pros:
Fast CD
High multi-target damage
Cons:
Very squishy
No lifesteal

CP- The Ace King

My own build inspired by fellow streamers. This Vox build can ace the whole enemy team singlehandedly when played rightly. The two Eve of Harvest makes you live much longer in fights since you do such a high multi-target damage. Always buy Weapon Infusion and Crystal Infusion after the first Eve of Harvest, that's what helped you acing the enemy team. Notice: EXTREMELY WEAK EARLY GAME!!!

Order: At start, get Crystal Bit or Swift Shooter, again! depending on personal preference. Buy as many as Crystal Bit that you will need early game because it's the most efficient CP item early game and Vox's early game is weak. Prioritize to build Alternating Current first, but Eve of Harvest is also okay. After these two Tier 3 items, get Weapon Infusion and Crystal Infusion every time while slowly building up for the next item.

Pros:
Ultra lifesteal
Ace enemy team when played correctly
High multi-target damage
Cons:
Weak at single target
Stunned=Doom
Need to buy infusions often

WP- The Breakng Point

Wait a second this looks like a Krul build... It is! Even though this build is not used often, Shiversteel and Sonic Zoom will let you keep up the enemy while lifestealing and building Breaking Point stacks. However, I haven't tested a lot of this build but it seems good.

Order: Get Swift Shooter at the start of the game. Quickly get Breaking Point, some health and even better! some CD reduction. Shiversteel and Serpent Mask will be next for sticking on enemy and surviving, then at last Clockwork for energy and CD. You can consider swapping the places of Breaking Point and Serpent Mask if your early game is too weak.

Pros:
Benefits from long fights
Slightly tankier
Cons:
Low damage when entering fights

Item Explanations Top

Weapon Power:
Sorrowblade is the most used WP item for Vox. It gives extremely high attack damage and should be built always first when going WP( unless going Attack Speed build).
Bonesaw used to be very useful, but the heavy nerf had put it down. It is still a useful item when you're in a fight long enough. The attack speed is also really good, paired with Vox's high base attack speed.
Serpent Mask gives lifesteal. The HP gained is huge since you do such a high damage and it will give you higher survivability. It will also give you the chance of having a comeback at low health by kiting and stutter-stepping.
Breaking Point is most effective in long fights. Paired well with Serpent Mask and Bonesaw, this item shines when reached 10 or more stacks. It is used on Vox due to his mobility to chase enemy down.
Crystal Power:
Alternating Current is one of the most useful CP item on Vox. Since he already does high multi-target damage with his passive, this will give him single target damage which is really important.
Eve of Harvest is the core of all my CP builds. It gives so much health when you're hitting all 3 enemies at once.
Broken Myth: No need to explain, when all your damage is CP, this item is a must.
Frostburn applies slow to enemies, making them slower, not mentioning your resonance bounces will also slow! Superb crowd control.
Clockwork will make your Sonic Zoom and Wait for It
Defense:
Crucible is good when enemies have powerful stuns like Koshka or Adagio.
Aegis: when enemy does lots of CP damage.
Fountain of Renewal is usually a support item! but it got a effect heal.
Atlas Pauldron is great when enemies have heroes based on attack speed, such as Krul.
Metal Jacket is not that useful for squishy characters unless the opponents go full WP.

Weapon Infusion & Crystal Infusion are must-builds for the Ace King build( and really useful on other builds too). Vox is the one who benefits most from double infusions, which will make him deal high single and multi-target damage.

Lane Gameplay Top

Early Game: Play safe and farm. No need to invade unless you're super confident. Keep last hitting in lane and get that gold up, because your builds are surely expensive. Due to the change to Sonic Zoom, Vox can no longer poke efficiently in lane because he have to use his Pulse first. So unless your teammates are up for a gank or the enemy laner is very low, don't try to overextend and get yourself killed. Always remember you have the shortest ranged of all ranged heroes.
After your first time home and you got some useful items, now you can start poking. Your damage is okay now if you apply Resonance on enemies. Just remember not to overextend on lane or you will be ganked.

Mid Game: You should have your first Tier 3 item now and half of the second one, so you should have fairly high damage. Invade and roam together with your team if they want to, or just keep in lane and keep farming for the nest item. Use Pulse to check bushes before entering them. Teamfights should occur now and then, just remember: always stay in the backline and kite the enemies, you're the carry. Always apply Resonance to enemies before attacking. Always stutter step to get the best positioning. As for most lane carries: POSITIONING IS THE KEY TO VICTORY.

Late Game: This is when you really shine. You should have a few Tier 3 items by now and should deal a massive amount of damage. Now, stay together with your team, follow the previous tips, stand back, stutter step, hit, kite, hit, and ACE. But that note that you're very squishy and will die easily without support. Flee from fights that you're sure you can't win, because an ace could cause a lost game.

Jungle Gameplay (NEW!) Top

Even when Vox is best in lane, he can still jungle very well due to his high attack speed. However, he is overall weaker in early game so a support is required for jungling. Remember to stutter step to achieve the fastest jungle clearing speed. Don't waste energy on abilities unless you have Energy Battery or Void Battery. When ambushed, remember that certain walls can be jumped over with Sonic Zoom, practice often and you will avoid lots of deaths. As always, if your support is not buying Scout Trap, be sure to get them and place them in crucial places.
