Starting your build ( What supporting item should I take?) Top

To start out your build you need a support item. Alot of questions I get is what's best to use. There is no right or wrong answer to this no matter what anyone says it's based on your team. In this guide tho I'll be straight to the point with everything giving explanations if it needs it otherwise you can just ask.
- Protector Contract = this is a great pick for early combat and invading, if you play solo que you may want to grab this almost always to get your team alive. If you play with a team or friends and know how they play pick this up if you find your team a bit squishy or know you all are going to get poked at
- Ironguard Contract = great for passive play or if you have an assassin on your team like Koshka your teammate can go in and out pretty quick but still can take quite a bruising, use this to get them right back in the jg to heal up, if you notice your carry is getting low add some pressure in lane so he can heal up on lane minions.
- Dragonblood Contract =hugely underated item, if you go with start 3 and know your team can put out early game damage then why not be a threat yourself or even more pressure? Take this and onto enemies, use this item, and let your team kill with 2 hits while you soak up all their damage ( but face it with ardan that's not a big deal) this is a great way to get early game advantage and take control of the jg as well as a possible turret early game.

Starting out ( which build option should I choose?) Top

°Build 1= I personally usually always take this just because you can use a single Flare into enemies tried bush, get a Scout Trap down and take the treant in middle of the jg and get vision in critical areas, however you shouldn't put Scout Trap down this early in game for damage, you want them for vision so carefully place them where enemies do not normally walk. this start is great for early game vision and picking off a straggler or keeping your jungler and laner safe to be alone while you roam in between

°Start 2= here we have a single item to start with, the Flare Gun going with just this gives you unlimited vision to whatever you need, use this and play passive keep vision on stealthed enemies such as a Taka or Flicker. It's also great to get vision of enemy Scout Trap and disable them ( step on then off carefully so you don't get hurt). Main aress of interest when placing or finding traps are
- the mustache bushes in lane
- both trips bushes in jg
-Near the pit where kracken spawns
- bushes next to item shop, middle of the map
Keeping vision in these areas and enemy vision out keeps enemies from ganking, ability to pick off a lone enemies, prep for a gank, and keeps the enemy from invading ( at least you and your jg will be safe from invasions)

°start 3= this is the start you need if you plan on going full on tank during your game. It gives you extra health to start with so you last longer in fights and boots so you can speed out when you get low on health. Simple as that

Core build and gameplay Top

°build 1 into core =here we have basic utility build, you can grant vision for your team ability to heal and shield as well as tank a fair amount of damage, the goal of this build is obvious, keep your team alive.
Use Fountain of Renewal when teammates get low on health try to use it when both teammates are low in a fight not before or after, if these two are the case ping them to go back to base or grab a Healing Flask to heal up, Fountain of Renewal is a big game changer and can turn a one sided fight into an easy win so you will want to use this as an emergency heal only to keep your team alive long enough in fights to win
Your next big item is the Crucible so many people misuse this tho, they use it to block only basic attacks or when they think they are going to be attacked thus waisting another game changing item, this should be used to counter high damage, stuns and AOE abilities. For example you will use this right as Adagio , Catherine or say Krul uses their ult, blocking these will keep your team from taking serious damage or keep them from being prevented from doing serious damage, however it can also be used as a lifeline when a teammate is about to die, use this in this situation ONLY if you know they can get away after ( example, your teammate has 1 health, enemy Catherine is moving in with her stun so you use this to block it then A onto your teammate and use War Treads to get him away).
- War Treads can be heavily usefull for many things however try to use this only to race down fleeing enemies or retreating to safety, don't use them to get out of base faster UNLESS you know you can save a teammate by doing so.

° build 2 = this is for early game tanking, and late game team survivability. This is almost like build 1 but backwards. For this you have to make decisions on armor or shields based off enemy builds, AKA counter building, what I mean is if the other team is all building CP don't build into Metal Jacket go with Aegis. If your enemies are all WP don't be afraid to build 2 Metal Jacket and an Atlas Pauldron , for any build to work you have to know how to counter build.
Other tips with the build is Shiversteel which is self explanatory as well, use this so teammates can secure escaping kills, you have the ability to dash to a target with B, use Shiversteel and auto attack to slow them and use A on yourself to slow them more, super easy.

°Build 3 =this is purely tank, counter build with defense items pick up Contraption because it's your job to give teammates vision and pick up a final utility item last to suit your teams needs

Situational items Top

Exactly what it means, if your in a sticky situation these will help
For the Bonesaw and Tension Bow throw these in to compensate for weak or trolling teammates, this is a great combo to shred enemy armor and get insane damage dealt

Echo with this past update this item can now be found inside the Utility tab, I find myself getting this more and more as I increase my rank because people are simply just using Aegis to get out of the trap, so to fix that all you need to do is use Echo and ult again to insure the kill just make sure when you ult the second time dont trap the whole team, because they won't be stuck with you, you will be stuck with them.
As for Clockwork this is a great option for cooldowns, if you find yourself needed to shield faster or use ult faster than you can just pick this up and relieve your stress
Everything else in this area is common sense to what it does or how you can use it to help but again feel free to ask or comment if i should throw something else in

Abilities Top

Everyone knows what ardan can do, so why do I have this? To let you know and inform new people with these tips
° never ult a whole team into your trap unless you know your team and kill them all
° don't be afraid to ult and keep enemies in sacrificing yourself so your team can live (1 death is better than 2 or 3)
° A on yourself to slow enemies by an insane amount
° your passive allow you to heal for a % of damage taken you can use this in combo with A to rush a teammate in and B to help damage them to save yourself right before you die, because of this you have more time than you think to turn back and fight
° always try and stay where most of the damage is being dealt so you soak it up and not your teammates
° map awareness isGOLDEN pay attention to the map to keep team alive and make plays, this is the simplest and easiest way to turn a game around
