Threat Hero Notes
1
Krul Krul is at a huge disadvantage when fighting a Fortress as Krul's weakness is Mortal Wounds. Also, Fort's B can reduce the amount of healing Krul receives by 33%.
2
Ringo Ringo is squishy use this to gain the upper hand. When battling Ringo burst him down quickly before he can respond by kiting you.
3
  No Threat
4
  No Threat
5
Lance Lane is slow. If he misses his a he is very vulnerable. However if he manages to land it on you, it'll deal quite an amount of damage so take note of that. Also, Lance's B can knock and stun you to a wall, opening an opportunity for his allies to quickly focus you down...
5
SAW SAW should always be ganked early and NEVER let him take the upper hand in the early game. Try not to let his stacks reach the full 12. If it does, use your A to get close and Atlas him to render his stacks useless. During this period, burst him down ASAP
5
Adagio Adagio is a hero dependant on healing himself or his nearby allies, that shouldn't be a problem for you as your B will deal significant burst and decrease the healing by 33%
5
Joule Weapon Joule might pose a threat. Proceed with caution...
6
Lyra Lyra's B disable's Fortress's perk therefore sometimes rendering his perk useless. She is squishy however but covers that with her healing.
6
Vox In the high tiers, you'll meet Vox a lot, that is why he is in this position in the threat meter. His Pulse means that you'll need to stay away from your allies otherwise the whole team is toast within a matter of seconds.
7
Taka Taka is squishy, but his speed and juking capability makes up for it. His Kaku can also help him escape situations which will otherwise kill him. You can counter this by ulting during the course of the teamfight so that your wolves can track Taka down
7
Glaive Glaive is a menace, his extremely high base health and high attack damage means that you'll have to respect his damage and health... Furthermore his Afterburn will be able to seperate you from your teammates and knock you back at a disadvantageous position.
7
Phinn Phinn cannot receive negative buffs and can't be burst down. His A and B also pose a threat as it has EXTREMELY high damage for a ROAM hero
8
  No Threat
9
Skye Skye is all about positioning. If you use your A on her, she will just Suri Strike back to her original position. Skye has a huge burst potential with her A. Try to pull her out of your position after she has Suri Striked and gain the upper hand
9
Skaarf Skaarf poses a huge threat to Fortress. Skaarf's kit is designed to take down tanky heroes and Fortress is one of them. Combined with a Broken Myth, Skaarf can easily be a Terror in both team fights or in one on one situations. Burst him down before he can build significant Crystal power...
10
Reim Similar to Skaarf only this time, he can root you and gain Fortified health
10
Celeste Similar to Skye but she can stun you with the proper timing if you get too close.

Introduction Top

Hello, my name is Joseph Kevin (IGN: DerpyBundance). in this guide, I will attempt to teach you some of my tactics with Fortress.

Fortress is most often described and used as a ROAM hero. Personally, I prefer to play him in the Jungle, as I think he is better suited that way ^^. His heroic perk helps him a lot by giving him extra agility thus making him harder to catch (Unless his teammates are dead or he is far away from his teammates that is ^^)

Before we jump in to the real guide, let's take a look at Fortress's ability set!

Fortress's Ability Set Top

Packmates
Slot: Perk

When Fortress is near an allied hero, he will move faster after 1 second. He will maintain this move-speed bonus so lang as he's alongside any allied hero

This is usefull for giving you extra mobility and initiate a fight. Combine this with you ult and it can deal massive amounts of damage if done properly. Other uses of this perk is:

- Escaping tricky situations provided your ally is near you or not dead yet
- Body blocking an ally that is almost dead (e.g. Blocking Skye's Forward Barrage or Skaarf's Spitfire
- Catch a prey which is out of range (Perk + A)

Truth of the Tooth
Slot: A

Fortress marks the target enemy as prey and his next basic attack becomes a short-range lunge. Fortress and allied heroes gain lifesteal when attacking marked targets and gain movement speed when moving toward them.
Obviously this ability is used for gap closers and for intiating ganks and/or teamfights. Pair this with say Lance's A and you knock the laner dead. This can also be used to catch prey which has low health and is hiding in the backline of the turret (Just don't end up dead getting shot by the Turret ^^) The reason we don't upgrade and take A's overdrive is that Fort's B is more useful and has a higher burst potential than A. Becareful not to use this when you're away from your allies as you will only waste the ability and the cooldown is fairly long.

Law of the Claw
Slot: B

Fortress claws his target for crystal damage and causes it to bleed. Bleeding targets take 25 +15% of crystal power as damage every second. Attacks from Fortress and his allies increase bleeding by one stack. Upon reaching 6 stacks, the target is dealt a burst of damage based on its max health and receives a mortal wound (-33% healing).

Overdrive: Upon reaching 6 stacks, the target is slowed by 30%.

This is the ability that makes CP Fortress so good. Use this for:

- Dealing Mortal wound to the enemy carry
- Dispatching laners quickly
- Killing the healer minions
Remember to focus on the bleeding enemy as if the team focuses mainly on him, the 6 stacks will be achieved much sooner than spiliting the team's attention on other foes. Try not to use this ability on ROAM hero. The simple rule is not to hit the roam hero unless other heroes are dead, or out of range. Remember to conserve this ability and don't use it recklessly on the neutral creep camp. Do so and you'll put yourself at a disadvantage in fights with heroes as you'll have to wait on the cooldown

Attack of the Pack
Slot: C

Fortress howls, gaining fortified health and attack speed and calls to him a pack of wolves. Each pack wolf seeks out a different enemy hero. These wolves apply bleeding with their basic attacks. It takes three separate attacks to kill a pack wolf.

There are 2 uses for the Ult:

1. Initiating a Teamfight - Even this guide is meant for Jungling, a CP Fortress is also a good initiator. Try to use this in the middle of the fight to make the wolves track all 3 of the (1 each) also as you're building CP, wolves bites, HURT as the damage is also scaled based on how big your Crystal Damage is.

2. Distraction - Fortress's ult can also be used as a distraction when capturing the Gold Mine or Kraken. Enemy heroes will need sometime to kill the wolves. Moreover it also deals bleeding damage and this
also opens a possibility for a teamfight if the enemy team makes it to your location.
Remember not to use this unless you really have to as the cooldown is relatively long (120 secs) and burns a HELL LOT of energy

Items Explainations Top

Travel Boots

Travel Boots is a much needed item for you who likes to rotate quicker in to the jungle. You can also pop the boots in case your A is in cooldown and wants to kill an enemy hero out of range

Aftershock

Aftershock helps you when dealing with Tanky heroes. This item also helps you deal 50% lifesteal, 2.5 energy recharge and decreases cooldown by 25%. This item works at its best when paired with a Tension Bow. If so pair change the Alternating Current with it.

Broken Myth

Broken Myth helps you deal consistent damage especially in prolonged teamfights. The item acts like a Breaking Point but in a Crystal way. It also has a distinct component to it which is Shield Pierce so this item can help you to get some extra percentage of your Crystal Power to damage through your opponent's shield

Alternating Current

Alternating current helps you by converting a percentage of your CP to your basic attack damage in short, this percentage will help you deal extra Basic Attack damage when you have built enough CP. Also it can help you kite an enemy due to its huge attack speed boost.

Aegis

Aegis is a good item to have when you're facing CP Laners and junglers. One thing to remember is that it only works on you and it won't help your teammates nearby.

Atlas Pauldron

Atlas Pauldron HELPS you a lot with heroes that rely mostly on their attack speed to claim the upper hand such as SAW, Ringo, Vox, Taka and maybe Krul. Pair this item with your A and you'll render them useless in no time.Out of its special features it's an all-round useful item. For me no matter your situation, if you're facing an auto-attack dependant hero, this is a Must-have item for you.

Heroes That Pair Well Top

Ringo is a hero that has an immense amount of kiting capability. Paired with his immense attack speed, this hero is well suited for capping out his Mortal Wound stacks in a matter of seconds. Thus it helps the entire team gain the advantage over the enemy team.

Lance pairs well with Fortress as Lance's A ability to root an enemy hero combined with Fortress's immense burst from B can completely decimate an opponent if the opponent can't get away quickly enough. Lance's B also pairs well with Fortress as if Lance manages to land a Stun Fortress can use his A and have the whole team focus that prey down.

SAW is notably known as the worst hero in the game due to the lack of mobility, but this isn't the case here. A well played SAW can wreck havoc in enemy team and cause them to get pulled out of position. SAW's spin up stack also pairs very nicely with Fortress's B as SAW's attack speed is EXTREMELY quick thus it will reach the 6 stacks in no time. Also, Fortress's A provides a much needed boost for SAW to either slow the enemy with his B or finish off a target with his A.
