Introduction Top
Hi, I'm steamy from the EU server and
Skye is my new favourite.
I prefer Skye in the jungle but I accept that many people play her in the lane. To me she feels more smooth in the jungle but the lane has more gold and stuff, I guess.
This guide is short and sweet and shows you how to wreck the enemy and make some plays.
Abilities Top
Skye's heroic perk;
Target Lock
This is amazing. Is synergises with her other skills and makes you super fast. Use it when escaping and catching up to the enemy.
Skye's A;
Forward Barrage
This will melt carries in the laning phase so make sure to help your allies in the jungle and use this liberally. Late game you're better using basic attacks for damage.
Skye's B;
Suri Strike
NEVER USE THIS FOR DAMAGE. You're weapon power, so it won't do anything to the enemy, and the new mechanic makes the missiles really clumsy. Use it to chase and reposition and make plays over walls and stuff, you'll figure it out.
Skye's ultimate;
Death From Above
Only use this skill late game if you're chasing or being chased. If there's a Taka or a krul in your face then use it. This is how I use her ultimate: cluster the melee heroes and use the line on the ranged ones. I don't distincly see why this works but I think it feels smoother for me.
The Items Top
Sorrowblade
This gives you sheer damage.
Breaking Point
This is what's unique here. Skye synergises well with attack speed and breaking pint makes you extremely strong as you can get stacks on the tank then suddenly dash into the carry or Mage and kill them instantly.
Tyrant's Monocle
More crit synergises well with
Breaking Point.
Bonesaw
Because who doesn't want armour shredding, right?
Fountain of Renewal
This allows you to regain health as you're being chased, prolonging the fight and giving you more stacks of
Breaking Point.
Shiversteel
This is essential. It slows the enemy when you're chasing them, improving your chase even more.
Journey Boots
These are a staple. However, get
Travel Boots early for more speed.
No life steal? Here's why:
Fountain of Renewal >
Serpent Mask
Fountain of renewal outclasses life steal in this case as it baits the enemy into chasing you. Also, I prefer to be tanky no matter what hero I am playing. But, I will say this: life steal is an acceptable form of defence if you are in the lead.
The Playstyle and Important Tips Top
Use
Suri Strike as your main repositioning skill.
Forward Barrage does nice damage early, but you should be focusing on farm.
Use
Suri Strike to dash in on the laner and kill them if they're low, but watch out for ganks. If you're jungling, use this to move slightly closer to other camps or jump over walls if you're losing an early skirmish.
Late game, make sure to activate
Shiversteel before you anticipate the enemies fleeing. From then on its suri strikes to clean up and ace the enemy.
So far, I've managed to 1v3 twice with this build. It makes you tanky. It gives you sustain. It gives you damage, speed and versatility.
Always make sure to save suri strike for later in the fight. If they have a
Catherine, then don't bother because you'll just get stunned. Additionally, make sure to not shoot her when she has her shield up, this will reflect HUGE damage if you have 10+ stacks of
Breaking Point, also I hate Catherine.
Skye's Allies Top
Ardan
The chase and lockdown will be real with this comp. also, it allows for more fancy over-the-wall plays and things, it's quite cool.
Ringo
Just try and run.
Catherine
Catherine is by far the best hero in vainglory, in my opinion. Just make sure she's on your side. She helps chase the enemy and lock them down, then you can cut them off and- you'll figure it out.
Skye pairs well with anyone with decent CC and lockdown capability.
Additional Tips Top
Always obscure health bars. Whether that be the gold mines, the minion mines or the krakens, hide their health bar with your own to make it harder for the objective to be stolen by the enemy team.
Remember to use minion candies. The
Minion Candy is by far the least used item. If there's a jungle fight early on use it to push lane or buff the minion mine.
Wision. Always carry
Scout Traps. If you go into the enemy jungle without them, then it's like leaving a blank canvas.
Skye is rather deadly early on. If they eat a
Forward Barrage,
Suri Strike,
Forward Barrage combo before level 5 then they will die.
Conclusion Top
Skye is an amazing hero. She's fast, and has unparalleled chase capability (even better than Catherine)..... (I hate Catherine).
With this build you should be able to 1v3 if they have low energy, low health or a mix. Or, if they have no stuns (always have atleast two stuns on your team by the way).
