Threat Hero Notes
1
Petal Petal can be somewhat of an issue early game, but late game you can slow her and burst her down easily. (Reflex Block her Ultimate if possible)
1
Celeste She has terrible mobility, an ultimate that can be easily avoided by side stepping, and you have range priority over her. Be careful because she can core collapse you out of your ultimate.
1
Phinn He has no Mobility, He Can be easily kited, and his damage comes from quibble which can be easily avoided. (Reflex Block his forced accord and quibble if you are using your ultimate when in team fights)
2
Catherine She can stun you out your ultimate and silence you with blast tremor, either than that she poses no issue. (Just reflex block her stun, slow her with gift of fire, then burst her down)
2
Ardan When he Gauntlets, gift of fire as soon as he lands, then use your ultimate while he is slowed, then burst him down.
3
  No Threat
4
Kestrel Early game is semi even, you outrange her, but you also have to avoid her glimmershots. (Also be very mindful of where she uses active camo)
4
SAW You out range him easily, his primary damage comes from his spun up perk which can be countered easily with an atlas, also slow him while he is spun up and attempt to burst him down if you can. DO NOT ULT WHEN HE IS SPUN UP Saw benefits from bad positioning from an enemy and aid from his team even through his lack of mobility.)
4
Ozo Ozo is a threat because of his mobility, his displacer, his perk, and his life steal. Be careful for an initiating Bangarang which can be avoided easily with a reflex block, and if he goes crystal avoid the third bounce of acrobounce because of its massive damage. If you successfully block his ultimate, slow him and burst him down.
5
Rona She has a decent early game, but she can fall off very quickly. If she uses Into the fray and you are confident you can burst her down, slow her with your a, buff yourself and ult. (If she uses shiversteel into red mist, burn her and ult as fast as you can), or gift of fire and run.
5
Alpha Her early game has gotten considerably better, but the most she can do to you is poke you with her core charge. When she gets fed she becomes a bigger threat similar to Vox. (When she uses her ult kite her until she explodes, then burst her down while she is rebooting.)
5
Joule Never, Never, Never over extend, When Joule jumps she can stun you, or separate you from your team mates. If this happens take the nearest safety route away from her and tell your team mates you need help. Also if she is scaling weapon avoid all thunder strikes because they gain an extra 25% critical strike if they overdrive it.
5
Adagio Generally you will win since your basic attacks have weapon scaling and your buff helps your case even more, but do not get caught by a slow into an ultimate from crystal adagio since that is a huge damage source for him.
6
Skaarf Early Game he is kind of iffy. Dodge spitfires as much as possible and do not be affected by his perk. Late game he becomes a monster. When he uses Dragon breath aegis slow him and start your ultimate to stun him out of his, then burst him down.
6
Fortress The master initiator... He can do massive damage through his B, His wolves can shred your health down like its nothing, and as his role states, he can start team fights and soak up and decent amount of damage while you get focused down.
7
Blackfeather If blackfeather is lane, you can abuse him very easily in the early game. If he jungles be careful for a Feint of Heart out of a bush to initiate a gank or to finish you off. When he hits Level 6 be even more careful. He can Rose offensive through or out of your ultimate, and burst you down like its nothing, while having good mobility and sustain.
7
Skye Skye can be an issue for adagio because of her incredible mobility, and her forward barrage. Always have the upper hand on her and gift of fire yourself or an ally to slow her down and stagnate her mobility.
8
Ringo Ringo can be somewhat of a threat to adagio. He has a mobility booster, a slow that can save him or finish off opponents, and an ult that can be devastating in certain situations. A smart ringo will focus you down as a primary target and finish you off with a hellfire brew.
8
Reim Reim can be devastating in lane or jungle. His sustain is monstrous against Melee heroes and his spire, and Valkyrie damage can be overwhelming (Valkyrie at the center does the most damage and stuns long enough for him to melt you.) Another key note of Reim is, do not make your escape predictable. A good reim will cut your escape off with a spire, chill winds, then finish you off himself. Reim benefits from his perk and you being in close proximity of him so Early Game harass him as much as possible and take advantage of his slow speed.
9
Vox Ardan's Son is a pushover early game, but becomes godlike late game. When you fight a Vox as adagio there are some guidelines to follow. 1. Do not let him get resonance on you at any point in the game if he does he will melt you effortlessly. 2. Do not engage him by yourself, unless you are 1000% sure you can handle him, his mobility makes it hard for you to land your ultimate and your basics. 3. If he goes CP use your distance to an advantage, CP vox strives from resonance bounces in team fights so if you fight from a distance while buffing and healing your allies, your chances of winning will be better. 4. Always know where Vox is, if he sneaks up on you, that can be an easy kill or ace if he finds you.
9
Krul Krul is the sustain king. Do not engage him by yourself, he can burst you down like its nothing. If his passive is up he can ambush you and kill you easily (due to adagio's slow movement speed). He can also stun you out of your ultimate with his so avoid him as much as possible, and focus him as much as possible in team fights. Also if he boomerangs his ultimate you might as well just accept defeat, unless you reflex block it. The stun is long enough for him to destroy you by himself, or long enough for his allies to melt you along with him.
9
Koshka Early to Mid game and possibly late game, Koshka can be a huge issue for Adagio, she has amazing burst, an amazing perk, and amazing mobility. She can also stun you out of your ultimate and make quick work of you. (If you can reflex block her ultimate, slow her, then burst her down.) Be more aggressive as you can mid to late game so you can make her fall off
10
Glaive Glaive is a monster throughout the game. He has good mobility, huge burst, and amazing team synergy with his allies. The biggest issue with Glaive is his afterburn. This skill interrupts skills that have channeling on them, sets up for team ganks, or provides a means of escape for him if he is low on health. (Reflex block his afterburn slow him, and burst him down with a team mate if possible.)
10
Taka Takas usually play passive until they hit level 6 where they get X-Retsu. In simple terms taka is Adagio's biggest threat, he can kaiten your ultimate, burst you down, and gank you unexpectedly solo or with a team. (If you can gift of fire an ally nearest to him or yourself to reveal him from his Kaku)

A Little Bit About Me. Top

Hello, my name is LK7T2 (I will be changing my name soon to match my Vainglory Fire Profile Name). I have played this game for about 3 months now and I thoroughly enjoy it. I play on the North America region of this game and I am in the amazing VainNation guild. I am currently ranked Simply Amazing Gold, I hope to reach a professional level if I can like most other serious players of this game. I am writing this guide as a general informer to others who might be interested in the character Adagio and how I play him.

Introduction To Adagio Top

Adagio
Role: Protector
Damage: Med | Survivability: Med | Utility: High | Difficulty: High
Adagio is one of the more complicated & flexible characters. Like Catherine, he has many build variations and his item choices are more reactionary to the flow of the match. Adagio can be built crystal for raw damage (either on himself or via enhancing others), Weapon for high basic attack damage, or as a utility-tank to maximize disruption and healing. Adagio has relative high health for his range.

SCALING
Adagio is relatively strong most of the game, with some falloff in the late game if not paired with a high attack speed ally. He is especially strong in early-game jungle invades because his heal is very substantial in a level 1 all-in. He power-spikes at level 6 when he first gets his ultimate, giving his team huge advantage during any team fights at the Gold Mine. His power falls off after the enemy team purchases Reflex Block or boots to counter his ultimate, but picks up again if paired with a high attack speed ally due to Agent of Wrath.

Heroic Perk: Arcane Renewal Top

Heroic Perk: Arcane Renewal

Adagio recharges energy whenever enemies burning with Arcane Fire take damage from any source.
This Perk scales very well for weapon Adagio because of his high basic attack damage along with his agent of wrath ability. Also When Adagio is built enough, he will have little to no energy problems during the course of the match.

A: Gift of Fire Top

Gift of Fire

Adagio heals a target ally and splashes Arcane Fire onto nearby enemies, dealing damage every second. If Adagio targets himself, he'll also slow nearby enemies. Each ability point spent on Gift of Fire increases its healing power, burn damage and energy cost.
This ability can be used offensively or defensively for Adagio. In an offensive way, Adagio can use this on an ally or friendly minion to increase his B damage while they opponent suffering from the splash damage of Arcane Fire. In a defensive way, Adagio can slow himself while he is near an enemy and slow them to provide a means of escape for an ally or to save himself from being killed.

B: Agent of Wrath Top

Agent of Wrath

Increases target ally's basic attack power for several seconds. Deals additional damage to enemies burning with Arcane Fire. If Adagio targets himself, the bonus attack power is even greater. Each ability point spent on Agent of Wrath increases its attack power boost, burn damage and energy cost. Each point also accelerates its cooldown.
This Ability is Adagio's greatest asset. It can boost the power of his allies, but has an even greater damage output if he uses it on himself. This ability does more damage if the target is affected by Arcane Fire which can make an easy burst for Adagio.

C: Verse of Judgement Top

Verse of Judgement

Adagio channels for 2 seconds then deals grievous damage to all enemies in a wide, rune-marked ring around him. Enemies burning with Arcane Fire are also stunned. Each ability point spent on Verse of Judgement increases its damage, stun duration and energy cost and accelerates its cooldown.
This ability is still very good on weapon Adagio, but does not have as good as an effect compared to a crystal Adagio's. Also you will want to gift of fire yourself or an ally near you to get the stun from the ultimate.

Lane Weapon Power Top

0:00-5:00 as stated in the Crystal section of this guide, you want to start weapon Adagio, the same way you start with the Crystal counterpart. Start with a Swift Shooter and two Halcyon Potions. After you finish your first rotation, head down to the shop and purchase some Sprint Boots, and two Weapon Blade.

5:00-7:00, Like the CP section you should have a Blazing Salvo, a Heavy Steel, a Lucky Strike, and an Oakheart, to create your Reflex Block. After you finish clearing some minions in lane purchase your Tornado Trigger, so you can have some attack speed. Note: Weapon Adagio is very weak earlier than Crystal Adagio, but can get stronger at the end phases of the game.

7:00-12:00, By now you can start poking around more, since you have a huge amount of attack speed and some critical chance. Turn the Oakheart you bought previously into a Reflex Block, and try to finish your Sorrowblade, since you have no true source of damage at this time. Also turn your Sprint Boots into Travel Boots.

12:00-15:00, As stated before this is the more critical part of the game. A failed gank can give the other team the momentum to finish the game strong and have the confidence to pull through. At this point of the game your Bonesaw or Breaking Point should be finished along with your Aegis, Metal Jacket, or Atlas Pauldron. Along with this, you should be starting a Tyrant's Monocle by purchasing a Lucky Strike.

15:00-20:00, At this point in the game, if you have perfect Creep Score, your build should be finished, if not closed to finished. Your Tyrant's Monocle, should be completed and you will be a huge damage powerhouse for enemies.

Other Weapon Item Choices:

A second Tyrant's Monocle can make your power spike tremendously and make you a huge threat to anyone who tries to focus you head on in a 1v1 situation.

Breaking Point, this item scales well with the attack speed you have from your Tornado Trigger, along with your Tyrant's Monocle. If you have full Breaking Point stacks, your damage will be very high and able to beat targets writhin a few hits.

Shiversteel, This item is very unconventional on Adagio, but actually scales well with Breaking Point as it allows Breaking Point stacks to be gained easier. The only disadvantage about this is Adagio's range. Since his range is so long targets can easily escape if they are at longer ranges.

Weapon Power Adagio Tips:

Take Advantage of your Arcane Renewal perk, With Adagio's Weapon damage plus Gift of Fire, you should never run out of energy and if you are low, you can regain it quickly.

Be Agressive, Weapon Adagio can be a little bit more aggressive than Crystal Adagio because his primary source of damage is coming from his basic attacks and not from his Agent of Wrath buff.

Take Advantage of your kit. Weapon Adagio posses more damage in a shorter amount of time due the fact he has the burning damage from Gift of Fire, along with Agent of Wrath, while retaining a huge amount of damage from Verse of Judgement.

Lane Crystal Power Top

0:00-5:00, When you are starting with Adagio in lane, you want to begin the game with a Swift Shooter] and two [[Halcyon Potions. After you clear out your first wave of minions, rotate down to the shop with your team and fight if there is an engagement. Adagio is very squishy, so fight at maximum range while healing and buffing yourself and your allies. While you are at shop you should buy some Sprint Boots and two Crystal Bits.

5:00-7:00, By now you should have a Blazing Salvo, an Oakheart, and starting or if not finished a Heavy Prism. After you clear your next wave of minions rotate down to shop and purchase your Travel Boots and Alternating Current, if you have been last hitting consistently. Also by this time, you should have your ultimate ready and your b should be closed to being maxed out if not already if your team has been playing aggressively.

7:00-12:00, Now you can start playing more aggresively, you have your a good source of quick cp damage and some raw Crystal power in your inventory. Your next agenda should be starting to build some defense if you have not already. With the Oakheart you bought earlier, craft it into a Reflex Block, because rhe enemy team probably all have ultimates now and maxed out skills. Once you have made your Reflex Block, Turn the extra Crystal Bit in your inventory into a Piercing Shard so you can start to make your broken myth.

12:00-15:00, This is the most crucial part of the game because of the more frequent invades, ganks, and gold mine captures. You can play aggressively, but still play passively because you still have a squishy character with low mobility. By now, your Broken Myth should be completed, and your tier 3 defense, Aegis, Metal Jacket, Atlas Pauldron, should be near completion by now. Both teams will be trying to go for kraken so make sure your roamer has vision throughout the enemy jungle and enemy lane bush.

15:00-20:00, By now you should have your Shatterglass, making your build complete. You have a large source of cp damage, a damage and skill amplifier, and quick attack speed. If your team has captured the Kraken, you should be clearing up the lane minions so when the kraken arrives at the enemy turrets, your minions will be there also. Remember adagio can heal the Kraken if it is taking damage.

Other Crystal Item Choices:

Frostburn, This item is good for characters that can slip away easily with escape attacks such as Joule's Rocket Leap, or Rona's, Into the Fray. Also since you have a huge amount of Crystal power, you should receive the maximum slow time for hitting opponents while the effect is active.

Eve of Harvest, This item makes Adagio, have better energy regeneration, and survivability in a whole. When you have full Broken Myth stacks, your Eve of Harvest, will heal you for a huge amount similar, to Skaarf's Dragon Breath with this same item.

Crystal Power Adagio Tips:
Never use Verse of Judgemenr, when you are about to die, unless you know your team mates can clean up. If you start up your ultimate and you die, you just wasted your best finisher and you are put at a huge disadvantage. Remember, Items like a Crucible, Reflex Block, and Aegis, can block the stun from Adagio's ultimate if they are burning. Remember, your ultimate can reach through the other side of walls which can be a huge surprise for enemies as they will not be expecting it.

Use your Gift of Fire as an escape, if you are fighting a low mobility character such as Krul, Reim, or SAW, use your Gift of Fire to slow them and create an escape opportunity for yourself.

Always fight at maximum range. Adagio is a squishy character and it is not smart to fight within melee range considering his low mobility and his low survivability.

Protector Top

0:00-5:00, as a full roam you should focus on supporting and buffing your team with your kit. At the start of the game start with a Ironguard Contract, a Halcyon Potion, and a Flare Gun. After you and your jungle carry finish your first rotation and head down to the shop. While at shop purchase an Oakheart and a Light Shield. If you are going against a weak early game hero such as Krul or Fortress you should invade and get the edge up in levels and in gold. If you have enough gold during your second rotation in the jungle, purchase a Stormguard Banner, and a few Scout Trap to place in your shop bush, the side of the enemy shop bush, and by the enemies' tri-bush.

5:00-7:00, By this time you should be near completing your Fountain of Renewal, by purchasing a Kinetic Shield and a Lifespring. After your Fountain of Renewal is completed, buy some Travel Boots and begin to create your Crucible. After you complete your Fountain of Renewal, buy two Oakhearts. One of these will be turned into a Dragonheart and the other will be turned into a Reflex Block.

7:00-12:00, After your Crucible is created, start a Warhorn to be an initiator or as an escape option to make up for Adagio's low mobility. After this item is completed begin your Atlas Pauldron. As a roam you should not buy a Metal Jacket, because it is very selfish and you make your team lack when you do not have this item against high speed carries such as Krul, Ringo, or Vox.

12:00-15:00, By the middle of this around 14:30 or so, your build should be near complete. You should have all of your main roaming items should be finished and you can start a Clockwork for the extra CDR (Cooldown Reduction) which will help your team immensely.

Other Item Choices:

Aftershock, this item will chunk enemies who build heavy armor such as Krul, Ardan, or Blackfeather by 15% and it will also aid in the Cooldown reduction of your skills.

Protector Adagio Tips:

Max your Gift of Fire and Agent of Wrath so you can benefit your team to the best you can.

Upgrade your ultimate last. This skill is helpful, but should not be your main focus because of how easily it can be blocked or how Adagio can be stunned out of it.

Time your skills, timing your skills at the right moment can be a saver or detrimental. Adagio has a very generous kit to his team mates so do not be selfish and heal or buff your allies when needed or when the opportunity presents itself.

If you are going against a carry that can go invisible such as Taka or Kestrel, rush a Contraption to reveal them. In the case of Taka, when he uses his Kaku use a Flare Gun to reveal him and if he is near you slow and reveal him with your Gift of Fire. In the case of Kestrel, when she uses her Active Camo, use your Flare Gun to reveal her and the trail of phosphor mist she leaves behind while avoiding it.
